First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Fred Fawcett for opening the lines of communication with Bud, Judy, Jud & the staff at the club. Fred, you have done a wonderful job as President and I am delighted that you will be attending the board meetings as President Emeritus. Myself, The Men's Association and the staff at Orange Hills "Thank You" from the bottom of our hearts.
The board welcomes Gary Rimler, Member at Large; he will be new to the meetings and a welcome addition. We have also recently elected board members to new positions: Bob Reilly will be Vice President of Handicaps and Jim Whitley will be Treasurer. All the Board of Governors are approachable, please do not hesitate to voice your opinions to any of our board members. Besides myself, here is a complete listing of our board members:
Nick Maida: 1st VP Tournament Director
Bob Reilly: 2nd VP Handicap Chairman
Jim Whitley: Treasurer
Glenn Hottin: Secretary
Gary Chadderton: Tournament Asst. Chairman
Matt Wiederecht: Website
Ray Brooks: Rules
Robert Vets, Jr: Entertainment
Ed Grillo: Membership Chairman
Gary Rimler: Member at Large
Our monthly meetings are open to all MGA members; please feel free to attend any of our meetings. This is a very difficult time for Golf Clubs in general; the economy is wrecking havoc on everyone. Please understand that we stand together as one "Big Family" and this would be an excellent time to bring new golfers to OHCC and show them the beauty of a family-run golf course.
I want to congratulate Jeff Beale on the completion of an important part of his PGA Certification recently in Florida.
OHCC is very fortunate to welcome Frank Selva as administrative assistant. He will be a great asset to the association. He will be holding Cracker Barrel discussion sessions every Thursday (for 6 weeks) starting February 18th regarding swing, rules, golf clubs & etc. Bring a friend - everyone is welcome.
One issue I feel that I need to address is slow play. Players should play at a good pace. It is the group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front of them. If the group loses a clear hole, that group should invite the group behind them to play through. Players should be ready to play as soon as it is their turn. When playing on or near the putting green, they should leave their bags or carts in such a position as will enable quick movement off the green. Never leave your bag or cart in front of the green. When play of hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green.
The tournament schedule will be out soon and posted on our website.
2010 Membership dues are $100. This year, as in the past, dues are due March 1st and after that there will be a late fee. We would like to urge 100% on time participation in having your dues paid on time.
I would like to thank everyone for participating in the Walter "Bud" Smith clock dedication. After 60 years of work on the golf course, it is certainly a fine commemorative.
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone for allowing me to be President of the Orange Hills Men's Association. I am very humbled by this opportunity. I will do all in my power to represent the club and all members to the best of my ability.
Thank You,
David R. Belowsky
President
