Tournament Formats
  • All tournaments must be played with at least one association member who can attest the score.
  • All cards must be signed, dated and attested. Full name, handicap, tournament name and T (noting tournament) must be on card.
  • All tournaments are played from the white tees unless otherwise posted.
  • Signing up and backing out of a tournament will result in being called before the Board of Governors. You may be held responsible for greens and any entry fees.

Sucker In The Bucket

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Make your own arrangements for tee times
  • Four-Man Team tournament, full handicap.
  • Flighted tournament (white tees for all)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

  • 1st hole: any player's score can be selected
  • 2nd hole: any of the remaining 3 players whose score was not used on the first hole is the teams best ball (net) score.
  • 3rd hole: any of the remaining 2 players who was not used on the 1st or 2nd hole is the teams best ball (net) score
  • 4th hole: the player remaining will be the "sucker in the bucket" and his net score will be the team score for the 4th hole
  • 5th hole: start back with choosing the best ball from all four players and continue in the same pattern thru the rest of the holes
  • If 2 players tie, the team should choose whose score will be used before teeing off on the next hole
  • Holes 17 and 18 will be left after going through the cycle 4 times, for these holes, any 2 player's scores can count as for the teams best ball net score

5-4-3 Out

  • Flighted tournament (white tees for all)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

  • After your round.. remove the following from your scorecard making this a 15 hole, net tournament:

    • (1) Par 3 score
    • (1) Par 4 score
    • (1) Par 5 score

Two-Man Pinehurst

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Make your own arrangements for tee times
  • Flighted tournament (white tees for all)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

  • Pick your own Two-Man Team - Minimum Combined Handicap of 16

    • Both players tee off, then they switch balls.. Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa
    • Each player hits a second shot with the other's ball
    • Then select the best of the second shots and from that point play alternate shot until the ball is holed out
    • If you choose Player A's second shot as the best of the two.. Player B will start off with alternate shot until the ball is holed

Intra Club Cup

  • This is a 2-day (Sat/Sun) Ryder Cup style, team competition
  • There is an Entry fee for this tournament
  • Cash prizes

  • Day 1 will consist of 18 holes broken down into 2 nine hole matches. The front 9 will be Best Ball and the back 9 will be Modified Pinehurst. 1 point per team member, per side.
  • Day 2 will consist of 18 holes broken down into 2 nine hole matches. 1 point per match, per side.
  • This will be an annual tournament. Repeat players will remain on the same squad as in prior year.
  • Full handicap

  • Day 1: Front 9
    Format: Best Ball - 2 points per match
  • Day 1: Back 9
    Format: Modified Pinehurst - 2 points per match
  • Day 2: Front 9
    Format: Singles - 1 point
  • Day 2: Back 9
    Format: Singles - 1 point

Two-Man Scramble

  • Pick your own Two-Man Team - Minimum Combined Handicap of 16
  • Drive requirements for team:
    • Par 3 Holes - 1 each
    • Par 4 Holes - 2 each
    • Par 5 Holes - 1 each

Mötley Crüe

  • Sign up date of play (before round)

  • 18 holes stroke play - full handicap
  • Flighted tournament (white tees for all)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

  • Pick your own Two-Man Team - Minimum Combined Handicap of 16
  • Modified Alternate Shot
  • Both players hit drives on each hole.. choose best drive, then alternate shots from that point into the hole.
        examples

    • If Player A's drive is used.. Player B plays next shot from that spot
    • If Player A hits into a hazard or OB.. Player B plays next shot (penalties included)

Nine A Man

  • Sign up date of play (before round)

  • 18 holes stroke play - full handicap
  • Flighted tournament (white tees for all)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

  • Pick your own Two-Man Team - No Combined Handicap Requirement
  • After the completion of each hole, choose one score for the team (Player A or Player B)
  • Team must use 9 holes from each player (full handicap)

Journey

  • Pick your own Two-Man Team - No Combined Handicap Requirement
  • Modified Shamble
  • Both players hit drives on each hole.. choose best drive, then each play own ball from that spot into the hole
  • Best Ball score for team (full handicap)

Traffic

  • Sign up date of play (before round)

  • Flighted tournament (white tees for all)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

  • Pick your own Four-Man Team - Minimum Combined Handicap of 52
  • First 9 holes - Best Ball (full handicap)
  • Last 9 holes - Scramble (one drive per player required)

Knock-Out

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Make your own arrangements for tee times
  • After your round.. DO NOT adjust your score (NET)

    Go to the front desk and ask for Knock-Out!
    Punch a hole on the punchboard and you will get a number.
    This will be the hole that is eliminated from your score.. making this a 17 hole, net tournament

Bunny Run

  • Sign up date of play (before round)

  • 18 hole - Point tournament
  • Use gross scores per hole for points
  • Your course handicap is your starting point total
    (ie; a 15 handicap, starts with 15 points)
  • Scoring for front/back nines:
    • Front Nine
      • Bogey - 1 point

      • Birdie - 4 points
      • Eagle - 8 points
    • Back Nine
      • Bogey - 2 points

Two-Man Survivor

  • Sign up date of play (before round)

  • Pick your own partner (Two-Man team)
  • Before the start of the round.. each team must mark and identify ONE BALL for the team
  • Prior to teeing off on each hole.. the team will decide which player will use the marked ball for that hole
  • After 18 holes.. each player on the team must play 9 holes with the marked ball (in any order) & USE THAT SCORE!
  • If the marked ball is lost.. you are out (the team must finish the round with the marked ball)
    • Example #1: Player A tees off on #7 with marked ball. Ball goes OB on 1st fairway. Player A hits another ball and plays out the hole for a score. In the meantime, that team has retrieved the marked ball and the game goes on!
    • Example #2: Player B hits second shot with marked ball into pond on 12th hole. He then plays another, with appropriate penalty, and completes the hole for score. The team fishes the ball out of the pond and the game continues. On the other hand, they cannot find the ball and their tournament is over.

Pick A Pro

  • The object is to hand in the lowest, net score.
    • The twist is that you get to pick one hole from a round played by each of our club pros. Their rounds will be played, posted and scores inaccessible. You will pick one hole from each blindly. If their gross score is better than your net score on the hole you pick, you may use their score rather than your own to improve your score

Blind Partner

  • Sign up before predetermined date (see tournament schedule)
  • 18 holes stroke play - full handicap
  • Two man teams, net best ball using player's full handicap
  • Random partner drawings will establish teams

36 Hole Stroke Play Championship

  • Sign up before predetermined date (see tournament schedule)
  • 36 holes stroke play - check the tournament schedule for dates
  • Gross and Net competition
  • The player's unadjusted gross score is reduced by 90% of his current USGA handicap to determine his net score and the maximum handicap allowance will be a index of 34.6
  • A player may participate in both gross and net but is only eligible to win a prize in one division
  • Both divisions will play from the white tees

Pick Your Own Four-Man Team (with Guests)

  • Up to two guests may be invited to make up your team

    • This will be your last hope to get into the Tournament of Champions

  • The challenge will be to finish 18 holes with the same ball

  • Must play entire round with the colored golf balls, and finish with at least one of them to be eligible for prizes
  • Loss of both balls disqualifies player from tournament

Two-Man Texas Shootout

  • Flighted tournament based on combined handicap
  • 1st six holes: Best Ball (Net Score)
  • 2nd six holes: Alternate Shot (Both tee off, pick one tee shot and alternate into the hole)
  • Last six holes: Scramble (Must use minimum of 2 tee shots per player)
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)
  • Scoring - Separate card for each team with handicap clearly marked!

Non-Senior Challenge

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Make your own arrangements for tee times (1st round only)
  • 36 holes stroke play - full handicap
  • Must be 49 years old or younger to qualify for this tournament
  • Low eight net qualifiers from any of the first round qualifying dates, play in the finals together
  • Check the tournament schedule for final round date
  • At start of the final round.. the eight players will start at even, using full handicap for 18 holes (first round scores not used)

MGA Memorial

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • There is an Entry Fee for this tournament
  • Individual tournament (18 holes), full handicap, everyone against the field
  • Odd number holes are one tournament
    Even number holes are another tournament
  • This is a full handicap event, so use your handicap holes where they belong

Lone Wolf

  • Each golfer must use two tee shots (par threes included) - note on scorecard where taken

ABCD Best Ball

Mixed Scramble

  • The Committee will handicap tournament

Four Ball

  • The first round of this tournament is scheduled for Sunday. Semi-finals and Finals will be played the following Saturday and Sunday. Check for rain dates
  • You must pay a $30 entry fee per team to participate. Pay before round
  • Two-man team best ball, match play, flighted
  • Two prizes from entry fee - 60%, 40% in each flight
  • Teams and tee times will be assigned

Point Tournament

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Eighteen hole scoring system as follows:
    • Everyone starts with minus 36
    • Take your handicap and add
    • For example, a 25 handicap:-36
      +25
      -11
    • Equals your starting negative number
    • Players with handicaps of 36 or higher will use 36 and start @ 0
    • Score by hole and points are earned as shown below;
      • Bogey - 1point
      • Par - 2 points
      • Birdie - 4 points
      • Eagle - 8 points
  • This is a flighted event
  • To earn a point you must hole out the ball (you're playing the field)

Senior & Super Senior Championship

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Two eighteen hole rounds of individual stroke play over three designated weekends
  • Members age 50 and older as of tournament date are eligible for Senior play
  • Members age 60 and older as of tournament date are eligible for Super Senior play
  • Eligible members must choose to play Senior or Super Senior, NOT BOTH
  • Gross & Net Prizes
  • All balls must be holed out (you're playing the field)

Club Championship - Championship Flight

  • Players with a 12 handicap or lower are eligible
  • Two qualifying rounds will be played from the blue tees
  • 15 low medalists and last years champion qualify
  • Finals will be a 36 hole match play event to be played on the final Sunday

Club Championship - Flighted

  • Sign up before predetermined date (see tournament schedule)
  • This is a flighted, match play event with 80% handicap, played from the white tees
  • Tournament is single round elimination
  • Tee times will be assigned

Front/Back - Modified Nassau

  • Sign up date of play (before round)
  • Individual tournament, everyone against the field.
  • Full handicap, best front is a winner, best back is a winner.
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

Member-Guest

  • Sign up before predetermined date (see tournament schedule)
  • 18 holes, stroke play, team best ball and full handicap
  • Shotgun tournament
  • Gross and Net Prizes will be awarded
  • Ball to be scored must be holed out (you're playing the field)

Tournament of Champions

  • Sign up before predetermined date (see tournament schedule)
  • Only members who have won or tied for first place in an Association tournament are eligible to play (including Ryder Cup - excluding Member-Guest, Mixed Scramble).
  • 18 hole, stroke play, individual, full handicap event
  • Tee times will be assigned

Ryder Cup (vs. Grassy Hill)

  • Two qualifying rounds will be played from the white tees over a designated period of time
  • To qualify, sign up date of play (before each qualifying round). Announce to the Association member in your foursome that you are playing a Ryder Cup Qualifying round
