Local Golf Rules

    Revised local rules April, 2003

  1. PREFERRED LIE RULE:
    As of April 1, 2003, the ball shall be played as it lies and the rules of golf shall be observed.

  2. TREES IN FAIRWAY:
    Play ball down. If Unplayable, drop ball to nearest point of relief plus two club lengths no nearer hole. One stroke penalty.
    Exception: Newly planted or young trees wired and/or marked with a colored ribbon.
    Relief: Stance, swing plus 1 club length, no nearer the hole – not line of sight. No penalty

  3. DRAINAGE DITCHES:
    Drainage ditches through the green that contain uncovered stones or gravel. Relief may be obtained from stone or gravel, not from the slope of the ditch.

    Ditches running parallel to the eleventh and sixteenth holes, on right side of fairways, are lateral water hazards.

  4. DESIGNATED DROP AREAS:

    1. 8th hole: If ball rolls down entrance driveway beyond stop sign, player may take relief to designated drop area (left of green). Penalty: 1 stroke.
    2. 9th hole: Ball crossing and remaining over or on any portion of paved area (excluding cart path) beyond green or in parking area. The ball may be played from designated drop area(right of green). Penalty: 1 stroke.
    3. 9th hole: If ball rolls down entrance driveway beyond white tee markers on 9th tee. Next stroke will be played from behind red tee markers on 9th tee. Penalty 1 stroke.
    4. 12th hole: Ball landing in pond. Members with local handicap 35 and over may use drop area left of green. Penalty: 1 stroke.
    5. 13th hole: Ball landing in pond. Members with local handicap 35 and over may use drop area right of green. Penalty: 1 stroke.
    6. 18th hole: Ball going beyond clubhouse. Player may use designated drop area (left of green near rear door of clubhouse) No penalty.

  5. OUT OF BOUNDS:

    1. 2nd hole: White stakes on right side of fairway.
    2. 7th hole: White stakes on left side of fairway from 7th tee to fence post on 1st tee. (White stakes defining out of bounds on left side of 7th fairway are considered Immovable Obstructions except for play on 7th hole.)
    3. 8th hole: Parking lot to left.
    4. 9th hole: Stone wall on right side of cart path.
    5. 11th hole: White stakes on right side of fairway.
    6. 12th hole: White stakes on right side of fairway, white stakes behind green and fence next to green.
    7. 15th hole: White stakes and stone wall on right side of fairway.
    8. 17th hole: White stakes behind green and behind 18th tee box.

  6. LARGE ROCKS IN FAIRWAY AND ROUGH:
    1ST hole located on right side of green. 14th hole located near 150 yard marker, 17th hole rocks near 100 yard marker, 18th hole located near 150 yard marker.
    Relief: stance, swing and line of sight plus 1 club length. NO penalty.

  7. BRIDGES:
    Ball coming to rest on any portion of a wooden bridge, which is within margin of hazard is considered to be in the hazard.

  8. TELEPHONE POLES:
    Horizontal telephone poles used as cart barriers on right side of 11th fairway and right side of 14th fairway. Relief: Stance and swing plus one club length. No penalty.

  9. 150 YARD MARKERS AND FLOWER BEDS, SPLIT RAIL FENCES:
    Player may obtain relief under the rule regarding immovable obstructions without penalty.

  10. TREE WELLS:
    Ball in tree well on the 8th, 10th, and 16th holes.
    Relief: Nearest point of relief plus 1 club length. Not line of sight. No penalty.

  11. FENCES:
    Fences around teeing areas. Player may obtain relief under USGA rule regarding immovable obstructions. No penalty.
    Note: Player does not get relief from the fence next to 12th green.

  12. PUMP HOUSE AND GUIDE WIRE:
    Pump house on 10th hole.
    Relief: Stance, Swing and line of sight of pump house, plus 1 clublength. No penalty.

  13. 4th HOLE RELIEF:
    Roped-off open hole near left side of fairway.
    Relief: Stance, Swing plus 1 clublength and line of sight.
    Wooden Cover.
    Relief: Stance, swing plus 1 clublength.

  14. SENIOR TEES:
    Members with 35 handicap or more should use forward tees on holes 2, 11 & 13.

  15. In the true tradition of Golf, each Association Member is expected to exercise Good Judgment, Integrity, and Honesty in questionable areas.
